Notes on Hysteria and Theatre

A collection of notes made during my research in preparation for the Darkness Visible II performance workshop. These notes would then become the basis for my new work, "The Hysterical Fit (In Four Stages)".

Correction: The aforementioned instrument is called the Glass Armonica, not the Glass Harmonica. I misheard a podcast I was listening to, The Metropolitan Opera Guild's "Lucia and Madness Study Day".

Correction: Charcot did not name the Hysteria diagnosis. It was a condition that predates him,

although he is responsible for turning it into a cultural phenomena in the late 19th century.
